The "Start Right Now" antweight kit
by Bristol Bot Builders x Tolerable Music
Once you've seen the robot fighting at Rock & Robots, it's only natural to want to get involved. Because of this, we teamed up with Bristol Bot Builders to prepare a box with everything you need to build your own - just add tools and imagination!

Current stock level: 4 kits
3 kits will be available for purchase at
the Copeland Gallery in Peckham as part of Peckham Digital Festival of Creative Computing on Sunday 19 October 2025

Inside the box is all the important stuff plus a few bits which are less important but still useful. This kit will give you the resources to make something:
-
moving (electronics, wheels, transmitter)
-
connected (motor mounts)
-
weaponised (servo)
-
battle-ready (acetate)
-
and a little fun (2 sets of googly eyes).
Bristol Bot Builders put together the most comprehensive and clear guide to assembling antweight electronics, which can be accessed below:
I also wrote a booklet with some design ideas/tips and a brief history of the antweight class.
If you order more parts, use this link so BBB know you've come to them through Rock & Robots:

The kit retails at £135, which is around what you would pay for the BBB components through their store. BBB, however, don't sell batteries as that would require specialist courier shipping. For that reason, I also can't post kits.
Kits can be purchased exclusively at The Others, 6 Manor Road, Stoke Newington, N16 5SA. If you wish to buy one, either come to a Rock & Robots night (second Sunday of each month) or arrange a purchase and transfer of funds by e-mailing tolerablemusic@gmail.com and arrange pickup at another The Others event (usually open Thursday to Sunday evenings).
